1. Harold Holt

Harold Holt, born on August 5, 1908, in Sydney, served as the 17th Prime Minister of Australia from January 1966 until his mysterious disappearance on December 17, 1967. Although he was not originally from Halls Gap, he was widely associated with it due to his frequent visits to the area for rest and relaxation. Holt was an avid swimmer and enjoyed spending time along the picturesque beaches and coastal regions near Halls Gap.

2. Joan Lindsay

Joan Lindsay, born on November 16, 1896, in St Kilda, was an Australian author known for her novel "Picnic at Hanging Rock." While she didn't originate from Halls Gap, Lindsay lived in the area during the latter part of her life. Inspired by the landscape and local stories, she wrote "Picnic at Hanging Rock," set in the fictional town of "Woodend," which was inspired by Halls Gap. The book later gained international fame and was adapted into a successful film by Peter Weir in 1975.

3. Don Burke

Don Burke, born on July 16, 1947, in Sydney, is an Australian television presenter, horticulturist, and author. He is best known for hosting the popular show "Burke's Backyard," which aired from 1987 to 2004. While not originally from Halls Gap, Burke currently resides in the region and has become an active member of the local community.
